Chloe Sinclair has a Master of Music (Composition) under Paul Stanhope at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney (USYD), a 1st Class Honours in Composition from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, USYD, and a Bachelor of Music (Composition) from The Australian National University (ANU) School of Music. She has been awarded several prizes/scholarships, including the Harold Wesley Memorial Prize at the ANU School of Music, two ANZCA Composition prizes, the Ruth Pfanner Commencement Scholarship and the Doris Burnett Ford Scholarship for composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

A multi-instrumentalist from a young age, Chloe has studied violin, viola, piano and voice, played with the Canberra Youth Orchestra for many years, and was the percussionist in a big band. With a love of singing, she was a member of Gondwana Voices, Junior Gondwana and the Canberra Youth Choir for several years, and is currently a soprano in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Chamber Choir. She has performed at numerous concerts and in musicals, both domestically and internationally, including as a soprano soloist in Peter Sculthorpe’s Rites of Passage and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.

As a composer, Chloe has a natural affinity for choral music. She has written pieces for notable choirs, including Gondwana Voices, Gondwana Chorale, The Song Company, Latitude 34, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Chamber Choir, the Woden Valley Youth Choir and the Australian Voice Collective. She has also participated in the Gondwana National Composer School several times, working with esteemed artists such as Paul Stanhope and Sally Whitwell, and was recently the choral Composer in Residence at Trinity Grammar School, Sydney.

In the instrumental sphere, Chloe has been commissioned to write new works for the Omega Ensemble (as part of their CoLAB program), Canberra Sinfonia and a solo piece for the clarinet by the Canberra Symphony Orchestra as part of the Australian Miniseries. She has written a chamber string piece for the Flinders Quartet, and she was commissioned to write a contemporary orchestral piece for the National Capital Orchestra. Drawing on her versatility, she was commissioned to write a jazz big band piece for the Canberra City Band at the International Women’s Day, as well as composing jazz-inspired pieces for members of the Royal Military Band, and composing and arranging music for the ANU Women’s Revue. In terms of film scoring, Chloe was commissioned to compose for an internationally award-winning film documentary, and was invited to jointly compose (as well as perform and record) original music for a documentary film at a major Los Angeles music production studio, Matter Music.

Chloe was a presenter at 2MBS Fine Music Sydney, lectures/tutors composition, theory and musicology at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, USYD, runs string programs at several Sydney primary and secondary schools and also teaches privately.
